Study With Cambridge Accelerated Online Courses

All 2021 SAT & ACT instruction (private individual tutoring, classes, and small group sessions) will be conducted online. While this virtual learning format is on one level informed by safety during the novel coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic, it is more so influenced by a desire and demand for improved access, reaching a greater number of families directly and allowing more students to participate in the instruction. We assure you, a Cambridge Accelerated course is far from your typical remote or distance learning.

Why Cambridge Accelerated Online Instruction Is So Effective
  • The instructor is present and providing synchronous education throughout the entire SAT/PSAT/ACT prep process.
  • Over 10 years experience of teaching students online in places as far-ranging as: Baltimore (and Baltimore County), Maryland; Atlanta, Georgia; El Paso, Texas; San Francisco, California; Australia; and Japan.
  • Our virtual approach is no different than our in-person approach. Online students have scored north of 1400 on the SAT and have gained acceptance to Top 25 U.S. Colleges, including Ivy League and Ivy Plus colleges (also often earning substantial merit based scholarships to top public state colleges and private universities).
  • Perhaps most significant is that the organization of Cambridge instruction is unlike any other education model. Cambridge Accelerated tutelage is not a format of merely presenting information and passively asking students if they have any questions. Each lesson is followed by targeted homework and timed, in-lesson practice. Whether in person or online, one-on-one or small group or class, each and every incorrect question by any student is discussed and diagramed with the objective of informing the individual (or ensemble) as to how they can solve these problems on their own in a consistent manner using the Cambridge Accelerated technique. This format works the same online as it does in person, because the mission and insistence on teaching self-reliance does not alter.

Private Individual Tutoring For All Skill Levels

What Could You Do With 150 Points?

Private tutoring with Cambridge Accelerated is $150 per hour for 2-hour lessons ($300 total per lesson) for SAT, ACT, and PSAT prep. Comparable options will cost as much as $200-$350 per hour ($400-$700 total per individual lesson). If a student is studying for all sections of the SAT or ACT, they can expect to see significant improvement after approximately 10-12 lessons. If the student is studying for only one subject of either test or studying for an SAT II subject test, then lessons tend to be fewer. Lessons are typically conducted during after school hours and on weekends.

Next SAT is May 8th (after March 13th) and Next ACT date is April 17th.

We recommend anywhere from 6-12 lessons before taking an actual test. Six lessons would be under the premise of installing some knowledge, taking a test, receiving those results, and then continuing studies to reach the ideal 10-12 lesson threshold and ultimate score improvement. Ten to Twelve continuous lessons before taking a test may still warrant some review before taking a subsequent test; however, all knowledge has been installed by then. Any review beyond 10-12 lessons is tantamount to fine tuning and reaching for score increases ranging in the hundreds of points.

You should consider meeting either once or twice per week, depending on the student's (or students') schedule and time remaining until test day. Be sure to leave enough runway for the lessons to take place. For example, someone meeting once per week for 10 lessons before the May SAT should plan on beginning lessons no later than early March and should thus enroll by late February to receive materials on time. Someone meeting twice per week for 10 lessons before the May SAT should plan on beginning lessons no later than the first week in April and should thus enroll by late March to receive materials on time.

Small Group Sessions For All Skill Levels

Study With Your Friends And Save $$$Money!

Small group sessions (2-5 students) provide a significant discount over private tutoring. For example, individual private tutoring is $300 per lesson, but a group of 2 would cost each family only $200 per lesson. Small groups must be formed by a cohort of interested parents who can agree upon and synch a schedule between the students of the various households. Cambridge Accelerated will not create small groups for you. Student skills can be at various levels: the students do not have to have uniform strengths and weaknesses or similar starting scores. It is entirely up to you and your cohort to form a small group with parameters that you can all agree upon.

If students are studying for all sections of the SAT or ACT, they can expect to see significant improvement after approximately 10-12 lessons. If the student is studying for only one subject of either test or studying for an SAT II subject test, then lessons tend to be fewer.
